Legal Web Design

Law firm websites that win qualified clients

We build authoritative, conversion-focused websites for Melbourne law firms and legal practices - structured around your practice areas, designed within the profession's advertising rules, and built to turn referral checks and searches into qualified enquiries.

The evidence

How clients actually choose a law firm

We design against the evidence, not hunches.

Referral-first

Personal referrals still lead how people choose a lawyer, so your website's real job is converting the short-list check that follows every referral.

12%

Of legal-service shoppers, only 12% found the price on a provider's website. Almost everyone had to ring the firm to learn what anything costs.

Cost confusion

Unclear costs confuse clients and depress satisfaction, a market failure the Productivity Commission flagged back in 2014 that most firm websites still ignore.

The challenges

The challenges we solve for legal practices

01

The referral check

Most new clients are referred first and Google you second. A dated or generic site turns warm referrals cold before the first phone call ever happens.

02

Cost-confused clients

Regulators keep finding the same thing: unclear costs erode trust in legal services. Clarity about how you engage converts - even before a price is spoken.

03

Sounding like every other firm

'Trusted. Experienced. Results-driven.' When every firm claims the same adjectives, none of them land - and superlatives sit awkwardly with the conduct rules anyway.

04

High-stakes first impressions

People bring you their business, their family or their injury. A website that fumbles the first ten seconds rarely gets a second one.

Anatomy of a winner

The anatomy of a law-firm homepage that converts

Same industry, opposite client. Here are two firms we built, one for the person in crisis and one for the boardroom, and how each converts the client it's actually for. Switch between them.

This is Reclaim Legal, a larger personal-injury and consumer-law firm we built. Every element is engineered for a person in crisis: warmth, reassurance, and a no-risk first step.

Practice areas

Built for how your practice area wins clients

A commercial client and an injured worker choose a lawyer in completely different ways. We design for the buyer your practice area actually has.

01

Commercial & corporate

Considered B2B buyers who do their due diligence. They want credentials, matter types and engagement clarity before they'll book. The site's job is authority and a friction-free consultation path, the way we built Blackstone Commercial Lawyers.

02

Family law

Clients arrive stressed, often at the hardest moment of their lives. Warmth, discretion and plain language matter more than gravitas, with a gentle, private first step ahead of any commitment.

03

Conveyancing & property

A volume practice with price-aware buyers on deadlines. Speed, transparent engagement and streamlined quote-and-intake flows win, and local search visibility does the heavy lifting.

04

Litigation & disputes

Urgency plus authority. Clients in a dispute want decisiveness and a clear read on how you act, communicated within the restraint the conduct rules require of results claims.

05

Wills & estates

An older audience that rewards accessibility: readable type, unambiguous navigation, reassurance over cleverness, and a low-friction way to start a sensitive conversation.

06

Personal injury

The person-in-crisis moment, usually on a phone. Human warmth, a clear no-win-no-fee explanation and claim-check funnels convert, the way we built Reclaim Legal. Advertising expectations differ by state (Queensland is strictest), so we design aware of where you practise.

Compliant by design

We know the rules you advertise under

Law-firm marketing isn't ordinary marketing. Under the Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules (rule 36 in Uniform Law states like Victoria and NSW), advertising must not be false, misleading or deceptive, and it must not suggest specialist expertise your accreditation can't back. “Accredited Specialist” is a protected scheme, not a compliment.

So we write and design within those constraints from the first draft: specific claims instead of superlatives, proof you can substantiate, and no borrowed authority. It's not just safer. Restraint reads as credibility to clients who are themselves professionally careful.

This is general guidance from a design studio, not legal advice. Advertising rules vary by state and practice area, so confirm your obligations with your regulator or professional association (the VLSB+C and the LIV in Victoria).

What a law-firm website costs

Every firm is scoped individually. The number moves with your practice-area architecture, intake forms and client portals, content volume, and how many review cycles your partners need. We quote fixed, in writing, after a short conversation.

FAQs

Legal web design questions, answered

Every firm is scoped individually and quoted fixed, in writing. The number moves with your practice-area architecture, intake forms or client portals, content volume, and how many partner review cycles you need. Our public website cost guide covers typical Australian ranges by site type.

Most firm sites launch in 6-12 weeks depending on scope, with partner review cycles built into the timeline so sign-off never becomes the bottleneck. You'll have a detailed schedule before we start.

Yes - we write and design within the restraint the Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules require: specific claims rather than superlatives, no specialist wording your accreditation can't back, and proof you can substantiate. We're a design studio, not your compliance advisor, so final review always sits with you.

It depends on your state and practice area - the rules differ, and Queensland is notably stricter for personal-injury work. We design proof that doesn't depend on risky claims - credentials, matter types, process clarity and third-party ratings - and flag anything you should confirm with your regulator.

Yes. Practice-area pages are how firms rank for the searches that matter ('family lawyer Melbourne', 'commercial litigation') and how referred clients confirm you handle their exact problem. We architect the site around them from day one.

Yes - migrations are where firm rankings usually get destroyed, so we map every existing URL, preserve or redirect it, and carry across the structure search engines already trust. Protecting existing visibility is a standing requirement in every rebuild we do.

You do - domain, design, content, code and rankings. We don't build on proprietary platforms that hold your site hostage, and there are no exit fees. If you ever leave us, everything comes with you.

Senior writers draft every page in plain language, structured for how clients actually read - then your partners review and approve. You bring the legal accuracy; we bring copy that converts without sounding like a brochure.

Yes. From streamlined enquiry and triage forms through to secure client portals and internal tools, our custom development work reduces admin and gets matters moving faster.

Yes. We're Melbourne-based and work with legal practices across Melbourne, Victoria and Australia-wide - the process is built to run just as well remotely.
