The Challenge

What Blackstone Commercial Lawyers needed

Blackstone Commercial Lawyers is a boutique Melbourne firm acting for founders, investors and business operators - a professionally sceptical audience that does its due diligence before ever picking up the phone. The firm's real differentiators are the ones most firms only claim: principal-led work with no junior layer, fixed fees agreed before work begins, and direct access to your lawyer at all times. The challenge was a website that makes those commitments felt rather than stated, positioned between two failure modes: looking like a suburban generalist, or like a watered-down imitation of a top-tier firm. Nothing off the shelf communicates that, and the profession's advertising rules rule out the shortcut most industries take - piling on superlatives.

Strategy & Approach

How we approached it

We designed an austere, confident site that earns authority through restraint. A dark, architectural aesthetic with premium photography replaces the stock gavel-and-columns clichés. The hero qualifies the visitor in one line - '01 / Commercial law for Melbourne business' - then delivers the value proposition in the client's own language: clear, strategic, fixed-fee legal support with direct access at all times. A Google 5.0 rating sits above the fold doing what self-praise can't. The firm's three commitments - principal-led, fixed fee, bespoke advice - run as a differentiator band of specific, holdable promises rather than adjectives. A consultation CTA persists in the header on every scroll, backed by three paths to act: book, browse services, or call the principal directly. Considered touches extend to a light-and-dark theme toggle and an insights section that lets the firm publish its thinking. Every claim on the site is one the firm can stand behind under the Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules.

The Results

Where it landed

The site presents Blackstone with the authority its work commands and carries the firm's positioning unmistakably: fixed fees, direct access, no junior layer - felt in the design before they're read in the copy. Practice areas are easy to navigate for time-poor business owners, and considered visitors always have a friction-free next step, whichever temperament they arrive with: the booking flow for planners, the services overview for researchers, the principal's direct line for people who decide by talking. The build gives a boutique firm a digital presence that holds its own against firms many times its size, and turns the due-diligence visit - the referral check, the shortlist comparison, the quiet Sunday-night search before a Monday decision - into booked consultations. It's the reference build behind our approach to commercial-law web design: authority through restraint, and specifics over superlatives.
