WooCommerce to Shopify migration, with nothing lost

Our team moves WooCommerce stores to Shopify for businesses in Melbourne and across Australia: products, customers, orders and search rankings carried across, and your old store trading until the day you switch.

Why stores leave WooCommerce

These are the four reasons we hear most. If none of them is you, staying put may be the better call.

  • “Every plugin update is a gamble.”

On Shopify the platform, hosting and security updates are handled for you, so an overnight update can't take your checkout down.

  • “The store slows down every time we run a sale.”

Shopify's hosting is built for traffic spikes. You stop paying for bigger servers to survive your own promotions.

  • “Our plugins keep falling out with each other.”

We replace the tangle with a smaller set of Shopify apps, and tell you which of your current features need an app and which are built in.

  • “We spend more on maintenance than on growth.”

With hosting, patching and backups off your plate, the budget goes into the store itself.

What moves across, and what doesn't

Most of a store transfers cleanly. Two things don't, and you should know about them before you start, not after.

  • Products, variants and images

Carried across with their prices, stock levels, categories and photos.

  • Customers

Names, emails, addresses and order history come across.

  • Order history

Past orders are imported so your records and your customers' accounts stay complete.

  • Pages and blog posts

Rebuilt in the new theme, with the text and images kept.

  • URLs and search rankings

Every old address is redirected to its new one, so Google and your customers land in the right place.

  • SEO titles and descriptions

    Carried across page by page.

  • Customer passwordsHandled differently

Passwords can't be exported from any platform, and Shopify doesn't need them: customers sign in with their email and a one-time code.

  • Plugin-specific featuresHandled differently

Subscriptions, loyalty points and custom checkout rules are rebuilt with Shopify apps. We map each one before you commit.

How a WooCommerce to Shopify migration runs

Your current store keeps taking orders the whole way through.

  1. 1

    Audit the WooCommerce store

We list everything the WooCommerce store does, including the things plugins do quietly, and tell you how each will work on Shopify.

  2. 2

    Build on Shopify alongside it

The new store is built and loaded with your data while the old one keeps trading.

  3. 3

    Test with real orders

We place test orders, check payments, shipping, tax and emails, and compare products and customers against the old store.

  4. 4

    Switch over, then watch

Redirects go live with the new store. We watch orders, search traffic and tracking in the weeks after.

Scoped first, then a fixed price

The cost depends on your catalogue, how much of the design you're keeping and which plugins need replacing. We audit the store, then quote one number, so it doesn't move unless the brief does.

“We engaged Web Divine to redesign our website with a focus on improving our branding, SEO, and overall user experience. They were easy to work with, took the time to understand our business, and delivered a clean, modern site that better reflects who we are as an ICT company. The LinkedIn integration is a nice touch, making it easier to connect with our audience and showcase what we do. We’ve also seen improvements in how the site presents in search, and the structure now supports both client engagement and general enquiries more effectively. Communication was straightforward, feedback was handled quickly, and the whole process felt well managed from start to finish. A solid team if you’re looking for a practical, well-executed website uplift.”

Answers to the usual questions

Not if the move is done properly. WooCommerce product and category URLs won't exist on Shopify. Shopify uses its own fixed URL patterns (/products/, /collections/, /pages/), so every old address is redirected to its new one, and titles, descriptions and content are carried across. That mapping is part of every migration we do.

Customer passwords can't be exported, though on Shopify customers now sign in with their email and a one-time code instead. Features that come from WooCommerce plugins, like subscriptions, loyalty points or custom checkout rules, are rebuilt with Shopify apps rather than copied. We map each of these before you commit.

We scope the store first, then quote a fixed price. As a guide, a Shopify store in Australia typically costs $8,000 to $30,000+ depending on catalogue size, design and integrations. A migration that keeps your existing design direction usually sits at the lower end. Shopify's own plan fees are separate.

No. The Shopify store is built and tested alongside your current one, which keeps trading until the switch. The changeover itself is a domain change.

We can rebuild your current look as a custom Shopify theme, refresh it, or start from a new design. Most stores use the move to fix what wasn't working.

No. WooCommerce gives you more control and no platform fees, and for some stores that matters more. We build on both, so we'll tell you honestly if you're better off staying and fixing what you have.

Yes. Our Shopify support covers fixes, changes and improvements by the hour, with hours packs or a monthly retainer.
